Daily maintenance of plastic parts of motorcycle appearance?

Author:

Motorcycles, especially scooters, generally use ABS plastic products as the shell. This design is not only beautiful in appearance, but also full of modernity. However, after long-term use, especially those parts that are often exposed to strong sunlight, such as the front, the upper and both sides of the rear, and the trunk, the surface paint film may crack.

The main causes of film cracking of ABS plastic products include improper selection of casting molding process parameters, lax pre-coating treatment and improper use. Therefore, in the course of daily use, appropriate preventive measures must be taken for maintenance.

In most parts of our country, the winter temperature is often below 0 degrees, and some parts of the north can even reach minus 20 degrees or lower. The use of a motorcycle in such a low temperature environment will not only cause difficulty in starting the engine, increase fuel consumption and aggravate parts wear, but also may cause serious damage to the motorcycle shell. If the motorcycle is parked in the open air below zero for a long time, its ABS plastic parts may have deep cracks, and even completely embrittlement at minus 40 degrees.

In order to avoid this situation, it is recommended to store the motorcycle indoors as much as possible. If conditions do not permit, it should be covered with prefabricated panels to prevent moisture intrusion, and it is best to cover the motorcycle to maintain the temperature. At the same time, when the weather is clear, the car cover should be removed in time to avoid moisture accumulation.

In addition, in areas where the sun is strong in summer and the road surface temperature is as high as 40-50 degrees, ABS plastic products are prone to become hard and brittle due to aging, resulting in serious cracking. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid using the motorcycle at noon as much as possible, and store it indoors or in the shade as much as possible to avoid prolonged exposure to strong sunlight.

In addition to paying attention to the storage environment, you should also avoid placing the motorcycle in high-temperature places such as stoves and resistance furnaces, and avoid touching or scratching the paint with hard objects. Because once it is hit or squeezed, the paint film may be deformed and cracks may occur. At the same time, prolonged rain wetting will also cause the varnish to expand, age or even fall off, so it should be cleaned in time after driving in rainy days and parked in a cool place.

In addition, to prevent oil damage to the motorcycle shell. Although the paint film of the ABS shell has a certain degree of oil resistance, long-term exposure to oil may still cause it to dissolve. Therefore, when refueling or dealing with oil spills, you should wipe the oil in time. At the same time, the fuel tank cap must remain sealed to prevent gasoline spillage from causing damage to the surface of the fuel tank and the paint film of the ABS plastic trim.

When cleaning motorcycles, avoid using gasoline, kerosene, diesel and other corrosive cleaners to clean the paint surface of ABS plastic products. Should use soft knitted cloth or cotton yarn, and try to rinse with water and dry in time. In addition, regular application of car polish is also an effective way to protect the paint surface, which can enhance the gloss of the paint film and prevent it from aging and cracking.

Finally, when buying a motorcycle, you should choose products of well-known brands. These brands undergo rigorous testing and inspection during the production process to ensure the inherent quality of ABS plastic decorative parts. Generally speaking, the quality of the paint film of these motorcycles is better, and it is not easy to crack in a large area.
